Talking the Talk: Communicating with Adolescents about Reproductive Health

  • Continuing EducationOnline TrainingRecorded Program

Jointly Sponsored by
The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the New England Regional Chapter of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine
in collaboration with Sylvie Ratelle STD/HIV Prevention Training Center of New England and the National Network of Prevention Training Centers

Overall Description of the Webinar Series:

Many healthcare providers are intimidated by talking to adolescents about reproductive healthcare, but choosing not to broach the topic may have serious consequences.   Many teens at risk for sexually transmitted infections are not being screened, and the United States teen pregnancy rate is the highest in the developed world.  This course aims to give healthcare providers the knowledge and language they need to ask sensitive questions about sexual health as well as both the knowledge and cultural competency to respond effectively.

Target Audience: Primary Care Physicians, Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers and other health professionals involved in the care of adolescents.

Support Acknowledgement: This activity is supported by the Sylvie Ratelle STD/HIV Prevention Training Center of New England through funding from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Program Release:  November 19, 2012
Program Expiration: November 19, 2013
